Justin’s Wings of Hope Foundation is proud to make an educational contribution to Gemini Phillips to attend Delaware State University.
A New Rochelle High school student athlete (NRHS PTSA award-winning track runner) whose mother battled terminal illness and passed away in 2011 as she was entering her senior year of high school.
Despite the challenges she faced, Gemini excelled in her coursework in high school receiving honors for her academics and an award for overcoming obstacles and leadership, and several NRHS PTSA awards while playing on the girls track and field team.
Gemini was accepted into Delaware State University with a dream to study Forensic Biology in order to help others dealing with a terminal illness with a mission to “provide a touch of healing for families who lost loved ones.”
Despite Gemini being an award-winning student-athlete she was ineligible to obtain student loans for her tuition. After her mother passed away, Gemini’s family experienced financial hardships while processing the grief of their sudden loss.
Justin’s Wings of Hope Foundation board members were inspired by Gemini’s story, resilience, and mission to make a difference. The WOH Foundation funded Gemini’s 2014-2015 semester at Delaware State University!
We wish Gemini the best of luck on her journey and can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes.
