On February 1, 2020, Felicia M. Crispino of Justin’s Wings of Hope joined up with Annie’s Army to plunge into the frigid bay at Breezy Point, New York one final time to participate in the 20th Annual Rockaway Plunge to raise money for cystic fibrosis, in memory of her dear friend and fellow Ursuline Class of 2015 alumni, Annie McMahon, the Rockaway's biggest sponsor who lost her battle with the illness in July 2019 at age 22.

Annie McMahon of Crestwood, NY was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) at 1-and-a-half years old, a complex genetic condition that leads to frequent lung infections and organ damage. Annie battled the illness for years with courage, pursuing treatment pathways throughout her life, including multiple double lung transplants, Annie fought for hope not just for herself but for all CF fighters. She spent her life working for a cure and advocating for cystic fibrosis and organization.

Annie and her family have raised over $2 Million through the Polar Bear Plunge over the past 19 years. Take the Plunge for Cystic Fibrosis” was started by Annie's father after her diagnosis and grew into an annual event where hundreds took a dip in the chilly waters, around Annie’s birthday in February. The money raised goes to charities such as Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Help Hope Live, and the New York Transplant Fund to help Annie and others fighting the same battle.

Annie's Memorial Fund was established by the McMahon family to honor Annie's wishes through Help Hope Live with an initiative to help others to celebrate life and access medical care in her memory.
